June Party?

Before church one morning.
Sleeping with her legs hanging out.

There is a custom here of having a party in June. It's called the June Party. No one can really tell me the significance, but only that they have been doing it since they can remember. Guess I will call my old history teacher from Language School or google it. Any chance Karis gets to dress up and go to a party we jump on it.

Father's Day comes twice a year.

Happy Father's Day! Here in our world we get to celebrate this day twice a year, once with our homeland and once in Brazil.

This week is the calm before the storm known as teams. I'm super excited to have teams coming b/c I remember what it was like to be in their shoes. Also I have a new understanding for all the work that goes into preparing for their time here.

Lydia is a clapper, crawler and is making a lot of sounds. Karis had so much fun at two birthday parties this weekend. I believe she ate her weight in cookies, brigadeiros, and cake pops. Guess she wanted to make up for the lack of sugar we give her at home.

My office also known as the kitchen.

A while back I did a little calculating. I determined that after three years of washing dishes for 20 minutes a day I will have spent 15 days just washing dishes. Most days I spend more than 15 minutes.

Every night at 9pm in our house we hear men whistling and loud sounds. This is the trash men and K (when she's still awake) like to run to the window to see them; except she can't see out of any window in our house so I have to run and pick her up.

I can walk to the grocery store from my kitchen in 4 minutes if the stop lights are red. This is exactly the same amount of time I could arrive to the majority of my college classes from my apartment on my bike.

Welcome to life with babies.

After a long time without blogging I believe today I will try to start again. My kiddos are growing to fast not to treasure every day so I can't make any big commitment. I figure every now and then is better than never.
Karis is a true girlie girl by her own choice. I don't consider myself to be such. She likes to wear dresses, my one pair of high heels, carry purses, paint her nails, shop, etc. Now if I could get her to be still long enough to do her hair. We weighed her the other day and she rounded off at 30 pounds. Kid loves to eat. She has been in pre-school three mornings a week for three months. Her language has really increased and her favorite part of school is a tie between paint class and lunch.

Lydia is so laid back and quiet. This day at the park I forgot she was there b/c she just watched the big kids or entertained herself. At the doctor today she measured 26 inches long and weighed 16 pounds. She also has a type of bronchitis so she is doing some breathing treatments to open up her breathing ways (I don't know the technical term).  She started sitting up right at 7 months and has been army crawling for awhile now. She refuses formula, but finally will drink water from a bottle. Her favorite food is banana.

This is a girl pic while dad was away on the other side of the world.
