Gus is gone.

We said goodbye to Gus last week. It was a sad day for Steven. As he told the story on the way home from selling Gus I knew why this car was more than just a car. It was one of a few materialistic things that was consistent in his life for the last 8 years. A friend called him up one day and told him that he needed to come check out this car that he should buy. It was such a great deal Steven agreed. He drove it home that day never imagining asking his wife on their first date in the car much less installing a car seat for his daughter. So much had changed in his life, but Gus was always there.

Even on the way from Augusta to North Carolina after a visit for Easter when the bumper fell off all Gus needed was a little rope and duct tape. Then, last year when the wreck happened we thought it was horrible, Gus got all fixed up with a new windshield and hood and we got paid the full amount that he was worth (more than we would have actually been able to sell it for). PTL for insurance and friends that can fix cars! Oh, and I finally began to drive good 'ol Gus in preparation for the stick shift exclusivity of Brazil.

I took some pics of Steven and Gus the day before we said goodbye. This is not the beginning of our goodbyes and certainly not the last : (

Hey guys!
So I couldn't help but notice your "Unreached people group of the day" on your blog, which showed the "Gujars" of India. I've actually had some encounters with this people group! And they definitely need prayer for their situation with the Indian government, as well as someone to evangelize to them. Anyways, good luck and God bless!

Oh, man. My heart stopped for a few seconds when I saw the title to this post. Gus is my little brother's name! Nickname, actually...but we always call him Gus. Had no idea that he shares a name with your car!=) Anyway, funny post, once I realized what it was about...students are back this week at church - and missing you all!
